Audiobooks from your NAS or WebDAV server

If your audiobooks live on a home server or a WebDAV service, Nightjar plays them from there on iPhone and Android. Nothing to copy first, no server of ours in between.

How it works

Add a WebDAV source in Nightjar’s Sources: the server address, your user name and password. It works with Nextcloud, Synology, Yandex Disk, pCloud, Koofr, Icedrive, Box and other WebDAV services. Some providers, such as Yandex Disk and Box, want an app password generated in your account settings rather than your main password.

What the server has to support

The server has to be able to send a file in pieces, as popular servers do. If yours cannot, Nightjar tells you when you add it.

Folders become books

Point Nightjar at the top of your collection and it walks the folders: an M4B is one book, a folder of chapters is one book, and multi-disc folders become volumes of one book.

Starts in seconds, even for long books

Playback begins as soon as the first piece of the book arrives, whether it runs one hour or twenty. Jumping back or skipping ahead fetches just that spot, and what you have already heard stays on the phone — you never wait for a full download.

Offline for the flight

Download a book from its menu to listen without a connection. Remove the download later and the book stays in your library, streaming again when you play it.

Your login stays on the phone

The password is kept in your device’s secure storage, the server address and user name in the app’s library on the device. None of it is sent to us — books go straight from your server to your phone.

Part of Nightjar Pro

Cloud and network sources are part of Nightjar Pro: a monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase, with a 7-day trial. Playing files from the phone itself, every way of importing them and Wi-Fi transfer are free.

Nextcloud, Synology and the other service names are trademarks of their respective owners. Nightjar is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them.
