Open-source licences

Nightjar is built on open-source work. The notices below are also shown inside the app, together with the full licence texts.

FFmpeg

LGPL-2.1-or-later

Nightjar uses libraries from the FFmpeg project under the LGPL version 2.1 or later. FFmpeg is used unmodified and linked dynamically, so it can be replaced by a compatible build. No GPL components are included.

ffmpeg-kit

LGPL-3.0

The native wrapper that bundles FFmpeg into the app is ffmpeg-kit, used under the LGPL version 3.0. The LGPL 3.0 is written as additional permissions on top of the GPL 3.0, so both texts apply to it.
